BMPT-34

Alternate-history Soviet BMPT-34 fire-support vehicle based on a T-34 chassis, armed with twin 25mm 72-K autocannons and TT-250 rockets.

What would a WWII-era BMPT fire support vehicle look like?

I started by selecting an iconic chassis for it: the T-34 hull, much like how the real BMPT is based on the T-72 or T-90. For the weaponry, I picked the 25mm 72-K autocannon, which was a close match to the 30mm 2A42.

Unlike the real BMPT, my BMPT-34 features a manned turret with two crew members in the low-front compartment, sealed off from the gun bay behind. I believe this is a more realistic design choice the Soviet engineers would have used over an unmanned, remote-controlled turret.

For the extra rockets, the comedic yet powerful TT-250 tank torpedo struck me, and I instantly locked onto it over more plausible options like the RS/RBS series rockets. It just looks and feels so perfect!

You might also notice the double driver's hatch and add-on armour plates on the frontal hull for added protection. Its frontal effective thickness is around 100mm.

It is one of my personal favourites, concept-wise.
