Type 97 Heike Amphibious Assault Gun

Official art I created for Marcher: Empires at War, showing a Type 97 Heike amphibious assault gun powering through water.

This was a tricky one because water is hard to draw, and I haven't attempted the bright, almost overcast-looking lighting style common to Southeast Asia, where the scene is set.

The head-on composition puts its unusual hull and weapon arrangement at the centre of the image. I focused on the water breaking around the vehicle, the wet metal surfaces, and the bright headlights to sell its forward movement.

Its rounded front, exposed suspension details, and naval markings give the design a strange mix of land vehicle and patrol boat.
